Art Maxwell is a cantankerous muli-instrument jazz player and also a cyclist/skater (as you can see). Some scenes were shot around the University and "People's Park" during a period of civil unrest. It is difficult to date some of the video material. Perhaps best to date the scenes by Art's choice of bike and components.

Brake wires and first Giros, could it be the Lake Merritt Criterium? And who's Frank, Tom?

Ah, la cuestion palpitante! Frank?? Art's gotta chime in here with historical details.

The liner notes to the CD "Art Maxwell and Tonal Gravity: Latin Up" say only re "Blues for Frank": "No sheet music, relying solely on the blues changes of Mr. Charlie Parker and a melody that crept into my mind. .. "

Eddie Marshall (d), Jeff Feldstein (g), James Lewis (b)

Snooty jazz fans will wonder about the "Tonal Gravity" name. It was drawn from George Russell's seminal opus, "The Lydian Chromaatic Concept of Tonal Organization for Improvisation."

Okay, whatever keeps the rubber side down.
